Okay so John got back from the field today and was able to see my haircut...so now everyone else can see it.
I don't have very good pics of it but you get the idea...
We are headed to San Antonio on Thursday to spend a few days with John!! I will hopefully get some better pics of it...it is about chin length in the front and then angles backwards and is shorter in the back with layers.
This week has been up and down...we arrived home on monday afternoon. While Lucas went to play with Hannah, I steamed cleaned the carpets, started laundry and mowed the grass. Tuesday we had a rough day...Lucas is into throwing tantrums! Tuesday we played with Hannah again. Wednesday we had playgroup. Lucas did awesome!!! He played with the toys showed me some skills that I didn't know he could do. We came home took a nap, tried to eat lunch, ran a few errands, then went to have dinner with Hannah and Natalie at Imo's or maybe that was Tuesday I don't remember. Thursday Lucas played with Hannah and her dad while Natalie and I ran to Fairview to get a few things from the mall. Eric said he did awesome. He was a little freaked at first but then was fine and ready to play. Thursday night. Lucas and I headed to Hannahs for supper. They are really spoiling us with playdates and food. Friday was a Lucas and Mommy day. He was really fussy all day adn throwing tantrums. I started timeouts with him so hopefully get him to realize that the behavior isn't appropriate. The majority of our problems is he understands everything I say to him but he can't communicate back to me what he is thinking, wanting, or needing. It is frustrating for all. After some tears from both of us yesterday and soul searching, I feel I can handle this tantrums in a few ways and just have to be patient because these to will pass. Friday night for a special supper we went to McDonalds and had a picnic outside! So far today we are doing pretty good. We got up played, tried to eat breakfast, played some more, he took a nap and I cleaned up the house, and mowed the yard. I am tired!!!!
Say Cheese!! Look...there is Mommy! Goof ball... Helping grandpa wash the truck Kisses for Sammy!
Not much to post about our trip to see the fam...all went well and here are some pics!
I have to wait until next week to post a pic of my new haircut...I promised John I would wait until he got back from the field and could check his email.
Lucas and I were packed up and ready to head home this morning...he went in the backyard with my mom to water Sammy and when she handed him back to me, he smelled like poop no big deal, just change him and will be on our way...
I went to pull off his shorts and noticed poop on his legs and stomach...I looked at my shirt and there was poop all over the side I was holding him...my mom comes in and she has poop all over the side she was holding him...needless to say he had a monster poop. We took a quick bath and put on fresh clothes for all!!
Then we got in the car and drove home...1 HOUR of NONSTOP Crying!!!! I thought I was going to die
Once home he took a 2 hour nap :-)
When he got up I took off his diaper and let him be free for like 5 minutes while I finished lunch prep...he managed to pee on the hallway carpet in those five minutes. After he ate a great lunch we were playing in his room when he decided to gag himself with a toy and threw up his lunch all over the carpet in his room...needless to say I am so tired of bodily fluid and it is only 330PM.
Lets hope the rest of you are having a better day!!!
I am off to steam clean the carpet and mow the yard...
Honey if you are reading this...don't you wish you were here today! :-) I love you
Well Lucas and I hit the road on thursday afternoon and headed to my parents house for the weekend. Thursday was a relaxing day, we arrived around 4 and just hung out...Lucas was ready to get out the car seat! Thank goodness for portable dvd players and Elmo's World.
He slept great at mom and dad's, he usually has a little trouble falling asleep the first night we are here, but he went right down and slept all night! He is though an early riser when we are here visiting!
Friday was another great day...we played outside in the morning, when I put him down for a nap, I finished getting ready for the day and left the house! My mom stayed with little one so I could go get my haircut and do some shopping! It was the first time in a very long time that I was able to go shopping, browse and try clothes on without feeling rushed because Lucas has a short attention span when it comes to shopping. I got my haircut, picked up supper for the family and headed back home. I was greated with the biggest smile, hug, and "MOMMY MOMMY" ever!!! It was a great feeling to be back home.
Friday night was good...he hung out some more, helped my dad in the field and then after little one went to bed mom and I watched 27 dresses! Cute girl movie!!! Made me think about trying on the dresses at Miranda's house the other weekend! Julie we could have a lot of fun with 27 bridemaids dresses.
Saturday is going well...Lucas is helping grandma mow the yard!!
We were kept entertained by wonderful neighbors! Hannah came over in the morning from 945-12. We went down to Hannah's house from 230-430, then went for a walk with Ms Lorrie, Ms Lorrie watched Lucas so I could get some cleaning done. After that Natalie (Hannah's mom) called and asked us to come back down for dinner, she made BBQ Ribs, Smashed Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, and rolls...it was awesome! Thanks!!!
After dinner we hung out for alittle while longer then headed home...Lucas started to get very irritated and whining, he was so tired. John and I called each other probably 4 times just trying to talk in a 20 minute time span because I kept having to get Lucas to calm down and listen to Daddy...In the end, I just put Lucas to bed early, he was worn out after a long day. He did take a good nap today!
Sorry to those of you who really don't care for a day by day play by play while John is gone, but daddy would like to know what is going on with us...I am going to start putting a few days together and only putting the highlights so you don't get bored.
So I am headed to bed and am going to try for another great day tomorrow!! :-)
Thanks Miranda and Lisa for calling to check on me today! It means alot.
Lucas was in such a great mood. He took almost a 3 hour nap, we played, walked, and the regular things without any whining or crying. IT was so nice...he is starting to eat better also. The only issue we had was he woke up at 645 and was ready to play...mommy is not a morning person!
A special thanks to David and Jana Corless for having us over for playtime and supper. It is so nice to know such generous people. The pizza was delicous!!
JOhn is doing well...a little sleep deprived, but today, meaning wednesday, he got to sleep in until aroudn 7 which is awesome since he has been up around 330 or 4 for the last 3 days.
Lucas and I purchased our airline ticket to fly to San Antonio and spend 4th of July with John...we are all very excited about that trip!!! It is about the midway point of the 6 weeks.
So far day 4 is going great...Lucas got up once last night for about 5-10 minutes and then slept until 745, we had breakfast, watched our morning daddy storytime and now he is watching Elmo and reading books! :-) Will post more tomorrow...
Yesterday went ok...I shed a few tears and so did Lucas. We played with our shape sorter alot and colored! My parents surprised us my dropping by for a visit on the motorcycle, so that made things better. I got to spend Father's Day with my dad atleast an hour of it! :-) Thanks mom and dad!!!
After they left Ms Lorrie (the neighbor) came over and played with Lucas so I could go to the store. Thanks Ms Lorrie!!
Last night was a rough night for Lucas and I...he was up 3 times...the first time went right back down the last two took about 30 minutes for me to get him to calm down and go back to sleep. I fell asleep pretty easily but I woke up alot.
Today has been pretty well...I haven't cried yet!!! :-) We decided to watch Elmo while we ate breakfast this morning at 8AM...Lucas started dancing...enjoy the quick video. He is working on body parts if you can tell.
Daddy wanted him to have more Mega Blocks so I bought a jumbo pack of 80 mega blocks....We decided to play with them today!
Our friends Natalie and Hannah just got back into town this morning, so we are going to try and hang out with them tonight. Nothing better than playdates!!
John did make it safely to Fort Sam Houston, TX last night, I have been able to talk to him already today briefly, it is hot he said 100 degrees but things are going okay for the first day.
For those of you who don't know, John left this morning for Ft Sam Houston, TX to do Army training for 6 weeks. So last week was spent being together as a family before he had to leave. We expect him home around July 30. So pray for his safety and us of course. I will be taking on motherhood single handedly...I have a good friend and you know who you are that I think is doing an amazing job raising her two boys while her husband is deployed...she has survived a year on her own, so I better be able to handle six weeks. Thanks for being there kate and being an inspiration to me.
We have alot of stuff planned for while daddy is gone to keep us busy!!! We are starting a play group next wednesday, swim lessons in July, MOPS outings throughout the six weeks (I think they have something every week), plus playdates with Hannah, Ms Lorrie, and Ms Lisa. We are heading to me parents this weekend, it is the annual Frese Family Reunion.
I promised John I would keep this blog updated while he is gone so he knows what is going on with us here. Check back tomorrow...
Friday night I packed up again and left for Bloomington, IL, my college stompin grounds. 5 of my college girlfriends got together on saturday. It was such a great time!
Friday night Miranda, Julie, and I sat around talking and drinking wine until 2AM, woke up at 630 to go watch Leann in a triathalon....it was amazing...the weather wasn't great so they cancelled the swim portion, but we still cheered Leann on whenever she came by running or biking. I am so proud of you Leann!!! After the race, Amy met us at Miranda's house for a little down time before heading to lunch to meet up with Angie, baby Logan and Leann. During our downtime we decided we needed to have a fashion show...it was so funny.
Here are some pics...sorry I don't have many...when I get the rest from the other girls I will post them also!!
Girls it was so great seeing you!! I can't wait until next time...
My wonderful husband surprised me with an overnight stay on tuesday June 3. We packed up and headed to St Louis (30 minutes), we stayed at a hotel downtown, then went to dinner at the cheesecake factory!!! Unbelievable food and cheesecake!!!
After dinner John pulled out 2 tickets to the Fox Theatre to see Mama Mia!!!! I love musicals and broadway shows are even better!!! Mama Mia was amazing...the talent of the cast is remarkable.
Wednesday when we got up we went to the Anhauser Busch Brewery and took the tour. John had never been so it was fun to experience it with him. It was my third or fourth trip but I stilled more about the company and the process.
Sorry no pics from the getaway, we forgot the camera!
On the evening of May 29, we packed up and drove North to see our families. The drive isn't bad at all....Lucas still doesn't sleep in the car though, makes it a little bit longer of a ride.
Thursday night-we stopped to see one of our high school friends, his wife, and little girl...then continued on to John's mom's house to visit for a little while before making it on to my mom and dad's house to put little man to bed. Being in a strange environment and being about 2 hours late for bedtime made getting to sleep a little rough for Lucas but we made it.
Friday was another busy day...we wanted to go see my grandmother in the nursing home but when we were wanting to go Lucas fell asleep and when he woke up it was time for her to take a nap so we were not able to do that...John went to play golf with little brother while Lucas and I were at mom and dad's playing with my nieces...we went to the park.
After they finished golfing Lucas and I headed to John's mom's again to meet with John and hang out....
Saturday we had a family lunch at mom and dad's with my brother, his wife, and my nieces...it was a beautiful day, they girls had the slip n slide out!! Lucas was a bit scared of that...the water was freezing!!!!!
After lunch we headed to the nursing home to see my grandmother!!!
Then on to Quincy to see a friend of John's from college, they just had a little boy 3 weeks ago, so we wanted to see the new addition. After that we went to a park and had dinner with JOhn's mom, brother, grandmother, and great grandmother while Lucas was able to play!!! After dinner we went to see another of John's friends from college. We finally headed back to my parent's house to get some rest.
Sunday was church for all of us, I then dropped John off to watch his brother play flag football while Lucas went to take a nap. He ended up sleeping for 3 1/2 hours!!! We then packed up and went to John's moms to hang out for a little bit and have dinner before we hit the road to come back to Bethalto. We arrived at 945 and were exhausted!!!
On Wednesday May 28, we took a family trip to the St Louis Zoo. We had a great time. Lucas has been to the zoo twice before but he was younger...this time he noticed the animals and was talking to them, trying to pet them...it was a great time.
THe penguin encounter was by the far the most fun to witness with him...the penguins swim up against the glass where you are standing...Lucas had so much fun trying to catch them when they swam by...the hippos were the same way!!!
I purchased a zoo membership this year....the zoo is free but everything inside costs plus it costs to park your vehicle...so I paid $60 to park 6 times for free, received 36 free tickets to either the railroad, sea lion show, or childrens zoo....plus we receive 10% percent off food, drink and gift shop purchases. We have already used 1 parking, 2 sea lion, and 2 railroad...that would have costs us $30 had we not purchased the pass....so Think I will definately get my moneys worth...
Here are a few of my favorite pics from our trip enjoy...
