Daddy's home!

John arrived home this week from San Antonio!!! We decided to make it a fun homecoming by decorating the front porch since we would be asleep when he got home.

Things have been the same this week...we went to swim lessons. He is doing awesome...tuesday and wednesday he went the teacher and didn't cry but today was another story. He cried and clung to me! He hasn't been sleeping great or eating well but his eating is improving now if we can get him to sleep!!

Here are some pics...

Pics and happenings of the day

Well the first week of swim went well...I think he is getting more comfortable with the water atleast and not really his instructor but that is okay...I am more worried about the water!

I took him swimming this evening...here are some pics. He hates to be in a floating device...he wants to be free to move his arms and legs and dip his face in the water to blow bubbles.

We also played dress up today with a halloween costume my neighbor found at a garage sale! It is his favorite character ELMO!!!

Day 2

Well Day 2 went about the same as day 1...he did awesome with me but when the instructor took him for 1 on 1 he flipped out.

He is really getting the idea of kicking his legs and putting his face under water. We started jumping off the edge to me...he laughs when he hits the water.

He is really going through some separation anxiety right now...I don't know what I can do to help it though. I encourage him to go with the instructor and tell him he is such a big boy. Any other ideas are welcome...

Water Baby

Today was day 1 of 10 water babies class.

Here we are getting ready to leave...

Lucas did great when it was time to get into the water...he didn't freak out at all. He let me hold me and swim...he showed the instructor he could kick his legs and move his arms in the swimming action. He even put his face in the water...just dipped it but he did it on his own. He even tried to jump off the side into my arms. He did freak out when the instructor took him to go swim with her. He cried and cried for me....it was sad but I knew it would happen because he is going through the mommy phase and stranger anxiety. Hopefully since we will see her all week he will warm up to her. There are only 4 kids in the class and 1 instructor. It is basically just about getting them comfortable in the water, work on the motions and going under water. Lucas is the youngest so I am thinking maybe I should have waited until next summer, but oh well. The other kids are between 2 and 3...it is amazing what 6 or 7 months will do.
we will try again tomorrow.....

Been a while...

It is has been a while since I last posted...sorry

Time is getting away from me. Nothing new or exciting to report on our end. Lucas and I are getting along without daddy. We have about a week to go before John gets home and we are all so very excited!!!

Lucas starts swim lessons tomorrow morning so we will see how that goes!

My mom brought my nieces down on thursday for a slumber party!! They arrived around 930 thursday morning, we got everyone ready and out the door by 11 for a fun filled day of animals. We started by going to go Grant's Farm. I hadn't been there since I was little girl so it was great to go back. Everyone had a great time. John and I are going to have to go back and take Lucas so John can experience it also. It is like a giant petting zoo, very child friendly. They have a tram ride through a deer park, then you have the opportunity to bottle feed goats...we got to see birds, kangaroos, lemurs, elephants, camels, bald eagles, mini horses, huge turtles, and I am sure there is more. If you are in the St Louis area and want something fun for the kids check it out. It is free to get in you just pay $10 to park. The animals are really close adn you can feed or touch must of them.

After Grants farm we went to McDonalds for lunch and let the children run and play...after lunch we headed to the St Louis Zoo to see more animals!!! THere we saw the sea lions, giraffes, birds, bears, penguins, rhinos, hippos, elephants, and rode the train. I think everyone had a great time. We had three kids that did not complain or anything for the entire day! It was such a wonderful time to enjoy spending time with my mom and nieces!!! Thanks mom!

Sprinkler!!!

Today I got out Lucas' sprinkler to see how he would do...I think he had a good time. I even put on my bathing suit and ran through it a few times...I haven't been through a sprinkler in a long time. Here are some pics of Lucas and not me!!

18 Month check up and other news

No new pics to post right now...but I should have some tonight or tomorrow.

Today we had Lucas' 18 month check up...he is still a healthy kid with allergies. He weighed 28 lbs and is in the 75th percentile, he was 34 inches long which puts him in the 90th percentile for height and 75th percentile for head circumference. She said he has stayed very consistent with percentiles over the last year and is right on track.

Developmentally he is nearing a 2 year old...we need to work on stacking blocks 4 or more high and removing articles of clothing.

He is done with shots until he starts kindergartin! That really scared me that it is around the corner. He does need to go in October for a flu shot...

On other news...we both are recovering from our head colds, the doctor seems to think we have ragweed allergies. Lucas starts swim lessons on the 21st...I am a little nervous about that because he hasn't been liking the pool this summer...last summer he loved it. John is over halfway done with his training. We are anxious for him to return home and spend some quality time together before school starts. Second year is suppose to harder than first which means we probably won't be seeing much of him.

Until next time...stay cool.

trip to texas

Well Lucas and I are back from our quick trip to San Antonio, TX to see John. We left on thursday afternoon and returned sunday afternoon. It was so nice to John after him being away for three weeks. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder...

We just relaxed thursday night at the hotel, friday we went swimming and to sea world, saturday we went swimming again and then went to see the Alamo and the riverwalk.

I will post more later abour trip but here are a few pics.

Lucas and I both got terrible head colds while we were there...he is almost over his and I am still miserable!
