Week 3 & 4

Where does the time go???

I can not believe it is almost September.

The past two weeks have been eventful. We took the side rail off Lucas' crib and turned it into a toddler bed. He has been doing great. If he wakes up at night he doesn't get out of bed and come into our room...he stays in his bed!! We made the switch early for most people, but he started to climb out of it one day and that was all it took for me to make the change.

On Saturday the 23rd, Lucas had his first friend birthday party at the pool in town. Hannah turned 3! We had a great time. When we first got there Lucas took off for the baby pool and jumped in shoes, hat, shirt and all...it was pretty funny.

Later that afternoon, he went for his first golf outing. John had two free passes for a course nearby so we went as a family. I haven't golfed in over 3 years. It was a sad sight at the beginning by about the 6th or 7th hole I started to get better. It was a fun outing.

This week has been pretty calm. Tuesday Hannah was over all day for a playdate, wednesday I took him to the park, and today he is home sick. He started running a fever and vomiting about 6PM last night...John and I didn't sleep much last night if any due to Lucas being up every hour. He didn't get sick from about 7PM until 830AM...so we are concentrating on fluids and no food today.

This weekend is Bethalto homecoming. They have a big festival with carnivals rides, games, music, food, etc...we are planning on going up on monday. My neice turns 7 this weekend! It is hard to believe she is that old already. I remember when she was born...sophmore year of college. I got to touch her minutes after she born. Little MacKenzie Jean....

Well until next time....

Week 2 of August

Well week 2 started off busy, we dropped our camera at Grant's farm and it hasn't been working since. I wasn't able to take any pictures til I bought a new one on wednesday. John's mom, brother, grandmother, and great grandmother came to visit and do some shopping on saturday. We went to the hotel they were staying at to go swimming. The pool was cold so Lucas wasn't very happy but he liked the hot tub! We only let him get in for a few minutes. He was able to stand up and touch! It was only 2.5 feet deep but still ....We then went to supper and came home. Sunday we met them at the hotel again and went to St Louis Mills Mall for the afternoon. It was a good trip. Thanks for coming to visit.

Monday John started school...2nd year is definately going to be a challenge. He has stayed late every day this week working on projects and it is only week 1.

Lucas and I have just been hanging out this week. Wednesday I went and bought our new camera. Here are the test pics.
Also on wednesday I attended a MOPS new member playdate. I am excited about joining the group. The woman are great. We have already talked about swapping kids so the moms can have a break. Lucas played great with the other kids. We were there about 2 hours and he came to check in with me just a couple times. He was yelling for me or anything...just would walk by the table I was sitting at give me a quick hug and run off to play! I have been doing alot of thinking lately on what I need to be doing for myself and for Lucas...He needs socialization with other kids...I need socialization with adults so I think the MOPS group is just what we need. Alot of networking can be done through other moms.

The excitement for the week came on Tuesday when my best friend from high school, Tara, and her little boy, Brody, came to visit us. Brody turned 2 in March...it took Lucas and him a little while to warm up to each other but then they played great! It was so great to see them. I miss them so much!!! Thanks Tara....

Well that is about it for week 2...until next week!!

1st week of August

Well the first week of August has officially came and gone.

The 1st was Lucas' last day of swim and they held a family fun day. They allowed the families to come to the pool from 9-11AM and use the diving area, meter pool, and slides. We had a great time! Lucas wasn't into the big pool much, he enjoyed watching daddy jump (walk) off the high dive, and really liked going down the big water slides with mommy and daddy. John and I took turns taking him down...he would get to the bottom of the slide and look like a dear in headlights but get out of the water and want to go again. Here are a couple of pics from the event.
That evening John and I had a night out with some dental school friends. John and I started the night with dinner at Red Lobster courtesy of a gift card from our dear neighbor and wonderful babysitter Lorrie!! Thanks Lorrie!!!!! After dinner we met the group at the bowling alley for some entertainment. John and I started out pretty rusty but finished strong. He one the first game by 5 pins, I won the second by 3 pins, and Travis won the 3rd game by I am not even sure how many pins it was pretty bad! Here is the crew...

Patrick, Lisa, John, Trish, and Travis

There just happend to be a sports bar located in the bowling alley that had kareoke on friday nights. Lets just say after several rounds of pitchers, kareoke was a good time. Lisa and I have never participated before but the guys had...The boys sang You've lost that lovin' feeling and Lisa and I sang I wanna dance with somebody.......two of us started out the song but I managed to get the guys out there to help us out.

The rest of the weekend and monday were spent relaxing. Tuesday we took Lucas to the pool and he had a great time. He wasn't into the big pool but loved the kiddie area. He was jumping, putting his head under, blowing bubbles, trying to lay on his belly and swim...it was great!!!!

Wedesday the 6th John and I took Lucas to Grant's Farm. He went earlier in the summer when my nieces came to visit but not with daddy. He did awesome! He loves animals. He doesn't look really excited or happy in the pics but I promise he had a good time. He just doesn't smile much in large crowds. He gets a little clingy.

Today was a busy day with getting the tires rotated on my car, getting my DOD dependent id updated, buying birthday presents for my nieces, etc....busy busy.

John starts school on monday! Wish him luck on his second year!!!
