Harvest time!

Lucas and I went home last weekend to give John some much needed study time. We started the trip at 830AM friday and arrived back home with John on sunday around 630PM. I got my hair cut on friday while Lucas stayed with my mom and played. Friday night Lucas got his first taste of harvest season. My dad was busy getting some of the corn out so he could test it...Lucas took his first combine ride, helped unload wagons of corn, ran the auger, and just had a great time pretending to drive the tractor. He is definately a farmer right now. Saturday I packed Lucas up and went to spend the day with Grandma Barb....they played at the house, went to the store and picked out a pumpkin, played at the school....sounds like they had a busy day. I had a bridal shower to attend for my dear friend Mandy from high school. When I got home from the shower my nieces where waiting for me so they could play with Lucas...so I loaded up the car and took my nieces with me to pick up Lucas and then the kids all played...Sunday we went to church, to visit my grandmother, and then when we got home my nieces were there again...so the kids played outside, went to the park, rode in the combine with papa....It was a great trip home, very busy but definately worth it to hear Lucas talk about papa's tractor, wagon, and combine. He loved every minute of it.
This week has been kinda busy but nothing crazy. Monday we got groceries and just hung out, Tuesday was flu shot day, Wednesday I hosted a playdate for the MOPS group...I had 4 moms and their kids show up to play, it went really well. Thursday (Today) I am watching Grace and Gannon for one of the mops moms who had to work today. Friday we are meeting one of the dental school wives and her three boys to go to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Lucas and Apples and Pumpkins, OH MY!!!

Today was a special day for us...John and I took Lucas to Grafton, IL to visit Eckerts Farm. http://www.eckerts.com/

We had such a great time...they had a pumpkin launcher, Lucas jumped everytime it went off. It was crazy how far they could launch a pumpkin. We went the Fun Corral...it is a petting zoo type area with playground equipment and inflatable attractions. After that Lucas got to take a pony ride!!! He wasn't scared at all...he did so well.
Then he wanted to ride the tractor, so we got on the wagon and rode out to the apple orchard to pick our apples. Lucas picked so many apples...we let him just run and get what he wanted...he kept saying apples, apples, apples, etc....They were everywhere!!! When the tractor came back they took us to the pumpkin patch but we didn't get off...we went back to the farm and had our lunch.

As you can see by the pics...we had an awesome time and it was cheap. There was no fee to get on the farm, the fun corral area was free for under 3 and adults were $.50. We paid $1.49 per pound of apples, I got some apple butter and john wanted apple cider, then the pony ride was $5...we escaped a 3 hour adventure for only $16-$17....I highly recommend going!!

October already!!!!!

Time sure is flying by...I can't believe it has been 2 weeks or more since I last posted.
On Sept 18, Lucas and I took an adventure to the zoo...It was a beautiful day!!! It was the first time I have taken him by myself...we didn't met anyone it was just mommy and son day at the zoo. We had a great time. We started our adventure in Big Cat Country! The tiger had babies in April and they were out playing...they were so cute. Lucas had fun saying kitty kitty and pointing to where the babies were playing...
After Big Cat Country we went to the Red Rocks to see zebra, giraffe, gazelles, etc...Lucas enjoyed being able to be out of the stroller and standing on the rail to see the giraffes.
The baby giraffe was out also...you can kinda see it in the back of the pic.We then took a walk to Jungle of the Apes...Lucas didn't care for the statue very much.
We did see the entire zoo that day. We were there for 4 hours!!! The best part is always the train ride at the end!!! As you can see by the last pic...he was a tired boy on the ride home!
On the 21st Lucas and I drove home for the day to go to my nieces 5th birthday party!! He loved playing in the sandbox with the girls. Daddy had to stay at home and study....poor daddy....
Today is October 2....my little man is 21 months old today. He is growing up so fast. He is definately a handful, pure boy, and a TODDLER!!! Gotta Love him...this are pictures from today playing outside in the fall air! I love FALL....
Other than that...nothing exciting is happening with us...John is crazy busy with school, Lucas is growing and growing...he has had a cold the last few weeks but I think it is just the seasons changing and the cool air. I am doing great...busy taking care of little one and playdates with the MOPS group! I am so glad I joined....we had a mom's night out on monday and it was so much fun to just be yourself, laugh, and goof off with other moms who need a break just like you.
Until next time...
