Okay so I wrote last time that I have been going to Aldi for groceries lately and things have been good. I decided tonight to test going to Aldi versus WalMart......
I took my list of 36 items to Walmart tonight for groceries and was ready to see what happend....low and behold I get to the check out she rings up my stuff and I purchased 54 items and spent $91...yes it was all food; I paid seperately for my other 5 items. Yes I did go home and seperate out the items that were not on my list and those items on my list. If I would have stuck to my list I would have been under budget!! However, the temptations of 12 or so aisles of so many items got to me compared to the 4 aisles at Aldi.....I am no longer going to WalMart on a grocery trip!!! I can not believe it played with me that much...I was even concentrating on getting my list items at the cheapest cost....
I am sure some of you are wondering what the other items I got that were not on the list:
-light english muffins
-sugar free pudding
-fiber bars
-gerber baby oatmeal (Lucas still likes it)
-yogurt
-Lean Cuisine meals
-Lean pockets
I also realized while putting groceries away I bought chicken breast when I didn't need to because I hade 3 lbs in the freezer already...I completely overlooked those while making out my list!

100th Blog Post!!
Yeah I made it to 100!!
Nothing to exciting going on so I will share some random stuff!
-Since last weekend, I have gotten over my headcold! :-) Lucas has gotten a head cold! :-(
-I have started doing a home inventory...I had a friend lose her home to a fire a few weeks back and she was talking to us about taking a home inventory in case it would happen to us. They had no inventory so after the fire, her and her husband have to go through by memory everything they owned in the house, when they got it and approx how much it cost them to buy...the insurance can not process their claim until they have this information. So I started in the kitchen and opened every cabinet and drawer took pictures of them and now I am working on writing it all out in excel so we know what we have...John said it is probably a good idea for us also because we will need an inventory for when we move in 2 years; if the Army moves us...which in my opinion they will be moving us. I am done moving myself! I recommend it to everyone to start keep tracking of your items, you never know when a fire can start. Most of our stuff is from our wedding so that makes it easier but in 15 years I might not remember.
-I have started menu planning...I make my menu for a week then go through the pantry and make a list of what I need to get...I then go to Aldi for all groceries and what I can't get there I try to find it on sale. My goal is to spend less than $60-65 a week on groceries and not go the store but once a week. We were spending so much on food and making two-three trips to the store during the week to get items we needed....The past two weeks I have been under budget and got all but 3 things at Aldi. It is amazing how much money and time you can save just by a little planning.
-John is doing great in school and getting ready to start studying for boards which are in July! He starts seeing his first patients in May so that is exciting. He has been assisting in Oral Surgery lately and giving the numbing injections.
-Lucas has been busy playing with friends....we go to the gym atleast 4 times a week and he gets to play with toys and friends while I work out, Grace has been coming 1 morning a week, he has been going there 1 morning a week, and Caden has been coming 1 or 2 times a week for a full day. Caden is here today, they have both been a little crappy today and whiny...thankfully they are taking a nap so I can update this blog. I took some pictures though of the basement after they were done playing just so those without kids can see what two 2 yearolds can do in about 15 minutes. .jpg)

Lorrie this picture is for you :-) My two babies!

-I have a get together tonight with some of the other dental student spouses at Panera! It should be good as long as people show up....another spouse and I thought of the idea of getting all the spouses together so we can get to know one another; our spouses see each other every day but we have no idea who anybody is and sometimes feel out of the loop...hopefully this will help.
Well think that is about it....until next time...

Valentine's Weekend
Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend with their loved ones.
Friday night was date night at our house...John and I went to dinner at Gentelin's on Broadway in Alton. It was wonderful. He surprised me there with a dozen roses and a card! :-) We shared a bottle of wine some amazing food, then went to Dairy Queen for ice cream! :-) My favorite thing in the whole world. After ice cream we met some friends for drinks and were home by 1130. It was wonderful.
Saturday and today we have just been hanging out with little man. I have a terrible head cold so I am out of it for the most part. I really need to get to the gym today, I haven't been since wednesday! I did get our taxes done and efiled!! We are anxiously awaiting our refund.
Nothing new or exciting to report...

John's new ride
John and I purchased a new vehicle a few weeks ago. John's truck was 10 years old and constantly needing fixed, the Dodge dealer in Alton was going out of business/switching to Toyota instead of Dodge so we went and checked it out. He purchased a 2008 Red Dodge Dakota Club cab (4 doors) it has 17 miles on it when we brought it home. Here is a pic of his new ride.

He is very happy with it. It has all the bells and whistles his old truck did not have....the only problem it is a 6 speed manual transmission...he is trying to teach me but I am not a very quick learning when it comes to driving with both feet. :-)
The weather has been beautiful this weekend...we went for a walk yesterday and played outside the temp reached a record high of 70 in st louis. Today we are just taking it easy...John is at the lab practicing for his big practical tomorrow morning, Lucas and I are just hanging out here at home. Nothing new or exciting...hope all is well with all of you.

Big Feet!!
So I have been going through Lucas' clothing and shoes lately. He is definately growing!!
I bought him size 8XW shoes last summer thinking his feet won't grow much...he is currently measuring a 9 1/2 M...atleast his feet are not getting wider just longer! He is only 2 years old and already wearing shoes for a 3 and 4 year old. At this rate I will be special ordering shoes before he is 10.
If anyone has purchased Buster Brown shoes let me know what you think of them...I am considering getting some for Lucas, but I have only bought Stride Rites for him so far because he needed the extra wide.
Also about shoes...he is measuring a 9.5M in Stride Rite but an 8 in Buster Browns...how can shoe manufactures have such different sizing methods?
